Introduction

Welcome to the homepage of the Department of Physics at Sharif University of Technology. Ever since its establishment in 1967, our department has garnered reputation as an excellent place to learn and do physics. We have been hosting numerous leading academics, top researchers, and bright students. We offer undergraduate (B.Sc.) and graduate (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) degrees in physics through a full range of courses in our modern academic programs. Quality training is a signature aspect of our programs, so is excellence in research. Our department features a host of cutting-edge fundamental and interdisciplinary research activities in a wide variety of areas of applied and theoretical physics. There always exist opportunities for motivated students and postdocs to participate in ongoing research endeavors. Our student community is formed of well-trained students, and our alumni are among highly accomplished physics graduates or researchers in academia and industry worldwide. We are the first department of physics to offer a physics Ph.D. program in the country and have thus played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s physics community and its international standing.
